Israel in the MEdia

November 30, 2017 - Posting

Hi, my name is Daniel Silver. I am currently a freshman at Marquette University.
Last year, I did a gap year, in which I spent the whole year in Israel. It was an amazing time, and I saw so many wonderful aspects of the country. Many people do not know the great things about Israel, and I wanted to find a new way to promote it.

I recently started an internship with 21c, which is a news outlet that discusses topics such as technological advances, health advances, and articles about culture about Israel. Weekly, I post articles in different social media forms of advances in health related topics by researchers in Israel.

The article that I found this week is titled "An injection that melts fat holds out promise for the obese." There is now a possibility to eliminate obesity as the article discusses that there is now an injection that was invented to melt fat. Personally, I find this medical advance great, since obesity is one of the highest increasing diseases of the modern age. Additionally, obesity can lead to many other diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, etc. Hopefully, this injection would help people be healthier and ultimately happier. The only issue is that these effects are not permanent, and one would need an injection about twice a year to have the effects continue. My one worry with this invention is what are the side effects? And will there be a point in time where the injections will not continue to work anymore? I hope you enjoy reading the article yourself, and please share it if you know anybody who may also find interest in it!
