Our Building


The Hillel Student Center - Joseph and Vera Zilber Building

Our building, opened in July 2009, has won two design awards: a 2011 Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects-Wisconsin, and a 2010 Mayor's Design Award in the category of "Live. Work. Harmony."

    “Take comfort in the discomfort”, challenged Erica Brown, renowned Jewish educator from George Washington University, at last week’s HIGA conference.  HIGA, or Hillel International’s Global Assembly, was held last week in Orlando, Florida.  Each December, the professional staff gather from the over 550 worldwide Hillels for a week of inspiration and learning.  Erica’s message was simple and resolute and stuck with me for the remainder of the conference.

  • Hillel Milwaukee's Mission

    We strive to create a dynamic, warm and celebratory Jewish environment for Milwaukee's university students and young adults (ages 18-26) where they can explore and express their Jewish identities and gain a sense of belonging within the Jewish community. We offer holiday and cultural programs, Shabbat dinners, leadership opportunities, social action projects, Israel programs, outdoor activities, and social gatherings. We welcome Jewish young adults from all backgrounds, including religious, secular and interfaith. We are also open to all local students who have a sincere desire to learn more about Judaism.
